I just thought I'd say that I hope everyone who celebrates it had a wonderful 4th of July. And even though I'm not nationalistic, I am patriotic. And I think it's stupid that so many people acuse Americans of being stupid and arrogant for celebrating a holiday about their independence. Because damnit, lots of other countries do it too, and just because Americans happen to blow more stuff up it doesn't make us arrogant fools. It's not our fault we like fireworks. Fuck, the Chinese do it and get praised, we finally figure out a use for gunpowder besides killing and we get ridiculed for being wasteful.

In case you couldn't tell, I've been finding a lot of extremely anti-American entries lately, and the extent of them are really pissing me off. Because even the people that insist they'd be okay living in other countries (and sure, they might), can't seem to realize that America is a great place to live. I mean, at least they're allowed to critique their government. Damn fools.

Bleh. There was a better way to say that, I'm sure. And maybe I'll rearrange the words later. But until then, make yourself happy with my whining. Or don't, and visit some of the people I've got linked to the right. Doesn't matter really, you just do what feels right for you, okay?

... Ha, I suddenly got all high-school couselor-ish. Hmph.

Um, is there a Warner P. Austin reading this diary?

Addendum 02
A thought occurred to me after reading other peoples' reactions to my mini-rant. I'm not saying this country is perfect, in fact, I think it's a far cry from that. I'm just pissed that people don't seem to (want to) understand that there IS no utopia on Earth, and there probably won't be, so long as humans are alive. And blaming Americans for all of their problems isn't the best way to go about it -- If we're all really the pig-headed bastards everyone says we are, then you'll just be getting us angry enough to start a beat-down (as evidenced by Bush's lovely campaign against Bin Laden, and blah blah blah).
